Oops He Did It Again…. NLRB Objections Dismissed
Maritas, Strebeck and their so-called union screwed up yet again when frivolously attacking yet another significant and substantial SPFPA election victory for his disgruntled former members. Once again, this summer the SPFPA beat Maritas’s union in an NLRB election – this time by more than a 2-1 margin – and the SPFPA now represents the security officers working at the TSA facilities in the DC area. These officers reached out to the SPFPA to represent them after three miserable years of Maritas/Strebeck representation.
Ever the sore losers, and desperate to keep the members’ dues to continue to finance his exorbitant salary, Maritas’ so-called union filed objections to the election. Last week the NLRB Regional Director dismissed the Maritas objections in total and certified the SPFPA as the union in place. In doing so, the NLRB Regional Director observed that Maritas union merely made an objection but submitted no evidence in support, finding instead that Maritas’ union “simply seems to presume” the objection exists. The Maritas presentation of the objections was so lacking in merit that the Regional Director did not even need a hearing first to dismiss them and certify the SPFPA to represent the employees.
This may sound familiar to you, of course, because Maritas screwed up in the same way just a couple of months ago. After the SPFPA convincingly beat Maritas’ union at Georgetown University earlier this summer, Maritas there also tried to delay the inevitable by filing frivolous objections. It did not take long for the NLRB Regional Director to dismiss those either, on the basis that Maritas failed to follow the NLRB’s simple rules that require a timely submission of an offer of proof. The Regional Director did observe however, that even if the objections were not required to be dismissed due to Maritas’ so-called union’s failure to follow simple rules, he would have dismissed them anyway as Maritas’ objections were losers.
Come on Maritas, screwing up simple steps the same way twice in a summer? We guess he doesn’t learn from his earlier errors because there are so many of them he can’t keep track. Why would someone want to be represented by Maritas’ union when he can’t even get the simplest things right with the NLRB? No wonder so many of Maritas’ units keep approaching the SPFPA for our assistance.
