It is expected the jury to award the SPFPA a judgment against them in hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars.
Judge Murphy’s Order today also addresses the results of Maritas and LEOUS’s intentional destruction of case evidence. You will recall that the Court appointed a forensic expert to review all of Maritas’ technology devices (computer, phone) and as a result discovered tens of thousands of emails and other documents Maritas intentionally deleted before telling the SPFPA attorney’s they could not be produced. The forensic expert was able to resurrect some but not all of the deleted files. Judge Murphy gave Maritas 35 days for his attorneys to review the 25,000 plus documents and produce the required ones. Judge Murphy ordered Maritas and LEOSU to pay the forensic expert’s considerable bills for services within the next 14 days.
The Judge’s Order continues that after Maritas and LEOSU produce the “deleted” records, the SPFPA may then bring its action for sanctions against Maritas and LEOSU due to their improper behavior. It is expected that those Court ordered sanctions will include substantial financial penalties and restrictions on Maritas and LEOSU to defend the lawsuit.
Maritas’ trial on the sexual assault Complaint in Honolulu is scheduled for December 11th. Now you can add to that Maritas’ trial on defamation on March 19, 2024. Maritas can run but he cannot hide. The law is catching up with Maritas and LEOSU. We will keep you advised.
